The Trojan war was thought to take place during the 12th or 13th century B.C.E waged against the city of Troy. The Trojans were fighting against the ancient Greeks, the Greeks tried to penetrate the walls of Troy and failed to do so with their normal catapults and swords. So the Greeks came up with an amazing plan to get past the great walls of Troy, they decided to build an enormous wooden horse where all the Greek soldiers would hide in. Then they rolled the horse over to Troy with all the soldiers in it and gave it to the Trojans as a present. The Trojans accepted it and brought it in to the city. Once in the center of the city, the Greeks broke out of the horse and attacked. That horse helped the Greeks win the Trojan war, people still do not know if the Trojan war even happened or the Trojan horse even existed. It might just be a myth.

Alright guys, I hope you are ready for my final post, here it is. First I am going to talk about Ancient Greek weapons. The Greeks used many different weapons, one of the most famous Ancient Greek battle weapons was the spear. The average warrior would not uses sword as his primary weapon, instead he would use a sixteen foot long spear as his main and a sword as a back up. They used the long spears to stop enemy cavalry troops by sticking the spears out in front of them making it impossible for the horses to get through the forest of spears without getting stabbed. The spear was also good for keeping enemy foot soldiers far away from the Greek troops. The spear was made out of a hardened iron tip with a strong long wooden rod at the end that the soldiers held on to, making this spear lighter than most other spears at the time. But the spear was just one famous ancient Greek weapon. The sword was another. The ancient Greeks used swords as there backup weapons but just because they were backup weapons did not mean they were not important. The swords the Greeks made were state of the art, they would use many different metals for them, some were made of silver but the basic design for the sword was... A metal hilt wrapped in leather, a steel hand guard
and the blade was usually hardened sharpened steel. The length and shape of the blade could vary greatly. The main use for the sword was if an enemy got too close to use the long spears they usually used, or if their spear got snapped and it became useless they would switch to there sword. Now in to the artillery. The main form of Ancient Greek artillery was the Ballista. The ballista was by far the best form of ancient artillery, it was all different sizes and was based off the design of a crossbow. This is how it worked one man would stand at the back and wind a winch, that would pull back the string. Once the string was all the way back another man would put the desired projectile in the cup that was attached to the string. The projectile could range any were from rocks giant arrows and even dead diseased body parts. One the projectile was in place a man would pull a trigger launching the projectile at a deadly velocity. A large rock launched from a large ballista could take out up to ten armored soldiers. For maximum distance the would put the ballista at a 45 degree angle. There is one Ancient Greek weapon that is shrouded in mystery, people call it greek fire. It was basically an ancient flame thrower used to set enemy ships on fire. There have been many writings of this in ancient greek scrolls, its design is a large chamber full of a burning fluid with a pressurized chamber next to it. When a person pushed down the lever it would spit a deadly jet of flame up to fifty yards on to an enemy ship causing all the enemy on it to burn or abandon ship.
